BOARD GAME PROJECT

For this project we worked in a group of  3  to 4.  To create this project we used a lot of different platforms to design to board and create the circuitry in the board itself and learned about how to use Photoshop.  I thought this project was amazing and engaging because we worked as a group to problem solve and make it come to life.
Working with 3 other people we first drew the base design on paper then taking it into “procreate” I drew the board on my Ipad. two other people made 4 different question cards to help the people playing practice math. Once the board was done we printed it out and glued it onto a pizza box, we then used a motor and LED lights to make it look cool.

30 day challenge

The 30-day challenge was a project we did where we had to pick something we would do different for 30 days. I tried to do 30 days of not biting my nails that obviously didn't go so well and I messed up a lot, I did notice that I slowly started doing other things to do with my hands and it started to get easier I think this was a really good project for self-control and commitment.

There were a lot of connections in my data, this graph shows that over the 30 days the better I felt about the challenge the better I felt overall.

This graph shows that my mood about the challenge went down a lot the more it bit my nails

Mandala art

for this project we had to use a compass, ruler, and protractor to create mandalas. In different ways we all made individual pieces of art. Personally I used my ipad to draw the mandala, using an 8 part mirror setting I drew part of it and the rest mirrored what I did

I decided I would laser cut the mandala into wood, so I had to teach myself how to use adobe illustrator and turn it into a laser cutting file. This is the finished file; the red lines mean it thoroughly cuts, and the blue means the laser  engraves into the wood.

the finished PRODUCT/TRANSFORMATIONS

Picture
Four of the transformations in my mandala are, dilation, parallel lines, a circle, and an octagon.

The green circles show how the circles in the center get bigger and bigger.

The teal circle is showing how the edge of the middle design is all circles.

The red octagon shows how the 8 petals connect to show an octagon.

The purple lines show the guidelines of the original sketch.

HUMANITIES

Op-ed

I wrote an op-ed about abortion rights, The right to bodily autonomy is one of the most important rights in this world but it is one that is not garneted. for this project I researched a lot of facts and statistics. I think this is a really important topic so I had to do it justice.
Abortion needs to be legalized on a global scale

Abortion needs to be legalized on a worldwide scale. People are dying, and it's not who you think it is. Many people can't physically bear a fetus due to health problems, and some don't want one. Abortion is the alternative many need for mental, emotional, physical, or financial purposes.
The argument of abortion is all rooted in misogyny. Women are treated differently in this country than men, whether that be from Things they wear to political power and rights. For example, the "Alabama Human Life Protection Act," A bill that went to the supreme court, would punish doctors who perform abortions with up to 99 years in prison. Anyone who would vote for that must not support the rights of women. How could anyone be allowed a say, especially a man, in personal human autonomy?
As of 2022, there are 54 million people in the US living in poverty who don't have access to health care. If pregnant, they are forced to carry a baby full term or perform a "backyard abortion." Twenty-five million unsafe abortions are performed each year, many of those people dying or suffering long-term health problems. Many of those pregnancies are due to sexual assault; SA hits impoverished communities the hardest. No one ever should have to carry a rapist's fetus to full term.
The biggest argument against abortion is that religion, Christians, and other religious people are extremely against abortion. They believe it's murder and that people should adopt out if they cannot raise a child. However, adoption is not as easy as most think. It's tough to find a good family to adopt out to. Many kids end up in foster care, which is a corrupt system. Pro-life people need to consider what happens to the baby after birth. Abortion is not murder. Many fail to realize that a human fetus cannot experience pain because it lacks connections and structures; a fetus does not have the physiological capacity to perceive pain. Many religious people think that because a heartbeat is active at about six weeks in the average pregnancy, abortion is murder. However, fetuses are not conscious beings. For someone to prioritize a heartbeat with no consciousness, remembrances, or even life on earth over a person who has lived their whole life is just immoral.
If we illegalize abortion, more people will die. It's okay never to have an abortion, but it's not okay to take it away from those who may need it. There needs to be a significant distance between church and state globally. We need to create more resources for those in poverty and all circumstances. For that is the only way to fix things for all who are oppressed.
Op-Ed - Essential Question: How is writing used to persuade or changes others ideas or opinions?
When you show facts, evidence, and reasoning, it can change someone's perspective. Sometimes people get stuck in their idea of what is right, but seeing something new can change how they see it.

This project started with a lot of research. Abortion is something I've been passionate about for a long time, so the research aspect of it was easy. The most challenging part of this project was deciding what evidence I would use and what evidence I needed to cut. Getting this to 500 words was tough because I wanted it to be so much more. I cut over 300 words due to all the evidence and explanation; I had to simplify it a lot to fit the phrase cap. in the end, this ended up good. All the editing and re-phrasing paid off. The critiques on this project helped me know what to cut and where so when it came time to mark down evidence, I could understand what was more powerful and needed to convince my point. My favorite part of the op-ed is the counterargument. Debate is something I love, so writing it was enjoyable and informative. I hope this can help show people my point and that they will understand why abortion is so essential for human rights.

required reading project

Picture
For this project we had to make a 30 page book on something that was important to us and we had the privilege to speak out apon. As a person who has struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life, I thought that I could do this about my struggle, I love poetry, and I've written it for years. Most of my poems have underlying themes of mental illness, so it worked perfectly. I also resonate with Taylor swift, so I added four lyrics of hers that I felt fit.

Required reading art piece

This sculpture was the second part of the required reading project. Some students decided to make art pieces to go along with their books. My book was about mental illness, and as someone who has been on medication for my depression and anxiety for a few years, I had the idea to show the double-sidedness of medication. It can be a true life saver. It can help many people and be a real hero in the battle against mental illness, but it can also take so much. When lows become less low, so do the highs. It levels out everything, both depression and happiness. It's a privilege to access health care and the meds I need, but it's not all sunny days. I'm so grateful to have the privilege of these things, but no matter what, there are still challenging times.

For this project, we researched fun facts and important pieces of culture about a Spanish country of our choosing; I did it on Peru and learned a lot about the history and culture. I liked this project because we had to do the presentation in Spanish, so that was a nice challenge. And all in all, we learned a lot in a very interactive way.
